Behind the Collections: Travis Scott Edition
In collaboration with Insane Luxury Life, we analyzed the most important pieces in Travis Scott's personal collection and their market value
Every detail in Travis Scott's universe tells a story of creativity and authenticity, and his watches are no exception. Behind the aura of celebrity and success is a watch collector who embraces the art of watchmaking with the same passion and fervor he pours into his music and unique style. In this article, we will dive into Travis Scott's personal collection of watches, while also analyzing their value on the secondary market, of course.
From classic luxury watches to exclusive editions and one-of-a-kind pieces, we will follow Travis Scott's journey in the world of watchmaking, revealing his tastes, preferences, and the indelible imprint he leaves on every watch he wears.
Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked “Cactus Jack”
Of all the maisons, the American artist's favorite in all likelihood is Audemars Piguet, in fact there are as many as four in the collection. One of them is part of the special edition made directly in collaboration with the Le Brassus-based maison and unveiled in December 2023.
The collaboration included a limited edition of 200 pieces with a costing price $201,000, about €185,000 and a unique piece made only for Travis. The latter features a rose gold bezel where gemstones have been set to create the effect known as "Rainbow."
The musician's handwriting was used directly for the dial font, so that the numerals and lettering appear to be handwritten. There are also numerous references to the Cactus Jack brand, the logo is featured on the month indicator hand at nine o'clock, while the moon at six o'clock has been replaced by the iconic smiley.
Patek Philippe Nautilus - 5719/10G-010
The combination of diamond watches and Hip-Hop is certainly a cliché, but it is also true in the case of Travis Scott, who has this 5719 completely covered in diamonds in his collection. It is a classic 5711 in white gold set with thousands of precious stones.
This reference is very common among celebrities especially in music, it has been worn by Post Malone, J Balvin, Nicki Minaj, Kylie Jenner and especially Drake.
As you can imagine the price is really very high both for the precious materials used and for the extreme rarity of this watch. In the boom period in the market, in July 2022, this watch had come to find almost 2 million euros.
AP Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked - 26585CE
In addition to the Perpetual Calendar Openworked made in collaboration with Audemars, Travis Scott has worn this black ceramic model on several occasions, and perhaps this is the watch that sparked the idea to create the limited edition we saw earlier.
This model, launched in 2019, carries on the great tradition of complicated watches from Audemars Piguet and is the evolution of the RO Quantième Perpetual Openworked thanks to the innovative use of black ceramic.
It is a model sought after by many collectors, which is why its price on the secondary market is +147.85% higher than its list price of €147,620.
Rolex King Midas
Within the collection we also find some quite sought-after pieces such as the Rolex King Midas.
This vintage timepiece was produced in the 1960s, just when the crowned maison was laying the groundwork to become the giant it is now, and was intended for the most loyal and important clientele as it was the most expensive model at the time.
The design, rather uncommon for a Rolex, draws inspiration from the Parthenon in Athens, where the side with the crown is reminiscent of the temple roof. Another oddity is the crown placed on the left. This choice is motivated by the fact that the watch was designed to be worn on the right wrist in a way that echoes the myth of King Midas. Legend has it that Dionysus, grateful for Midas' hospitality, gave him the power to transform what he touched with his left hand.
Behind such a distinctive watch is obviously the hand of Gerald Genta, a designer that Travis Scott seems to greatly appreciate by wearing many of his creations often.
The King Midas is quite rare given the low number of pieces produced by Rolex, as it was a limited edition back in the day. It was produced in two references: the 9630 of which about 1,000 pieces were made and the reference 3580 which has about 800 pieces.
In the past this model had not been highly regarded, but in recent years its design is attracting more and more interest. Because of its rarity and sophistication this watch now market price is around €40,000.
Patek Philippe Celestial - 6104R
Travis doesn’t wear only classic sports watches such as Royal Oak and Nautilus, in his collection we also find more elegant and sophisticated models such as this Patek Philippe.
The Celestial provides dedicates its dial to the revolving map of celestial bodies. At any time, its owner can admire the exact configuration of the night sky in the northern hemisphere, with the apparent movement of the stars, the phases of the moon, and its orbit.
This reference was presented in 2012 and is made with a rose gold case and a bezel embellished with baguette-cut diamonds. Its market price is €616,202 as seen on WatchAnalytics.io.
Richard Mille - RM 069
From a Patek Philippe emblem of elegance and tradition, we move on to a slightly "different" watch.
Launched in 2015, the RM 069 is the maison's interpretation of the "Erotic Watches" genre. Instead of the classic depictions often found on this type of watch, this timepiece allows the display of erotic messages via three rollers at the top of the dial. This complication was designed by Richard Mille and called "Oracle."
It is a very rare piece, having been produced in only 30 pieces and now selling for almost €2 million, €1,177,419 to be precise.
Richard Mille - RM 07-03 “Marshmallow”
Travis's choice regarding Richard Mille is very unique. In addition to the RM 069, the rapper also wears the RM 07-03 Marshmallow, which was presented in 2019 as part of the "Bonbon" collection that includes 10 references divided between Sweets (4 watches) and Fruits (6 watches).
Specifically, the RM 07-03 was produced in 30 pieces with a list price of $153,000 and originally belonged to the brand's women's collection. Today, 5 years after its launch, this timepiece is sold at $445,900 (€416,866), about +191%, an impressive growth.
AP Royal Oak Chronograph - 26319OR
Travis's passion for diamonds also led him to wear an Audemars Piguet for women. In fact, the 26319OR is part of the maison's women's collection, although it can also be worn by men thanks to its 38mm case.
Unveiled in July 2021, this model features a fantastic combination of rose gold and the purple of the dial and bezel, the latter encircled by the amethysts set above.
Richard Mille - RM 011 “Brown”
The last of the three Richard Mille watches in the collection is a real gem. The RM 011 "Brown" makes its entry in 2010 and is the first model with a brown case ever made by the house. The material mainly used is titanium with a PVD treatment to arrive at this shade. This color is perfectly combined with rose gold on the crown and chronograph pushers.
There are two Boutique Editions of this model: the first with a rose gold inner bezel and is one made in 30 pieces for the American market, while the second, the one worn by Travis, with a white bezel and white inserts in the white chronograph pushers, made in 50 pieces for the Asian market.
The RM011 is a timepiece designed for sports, not surprisingly, the fashion house developed two important models of this reference in collaboration with soccer coach Roberto Mancini and former Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa. This is why it has the flyback chronograph, an important complication for the sports world.
The list price at the time of release was about $95,000 while now it trades on the secondary market at about 244 percent more, at $326,804 (€305,350).
AP Royal Oak Frosted Gold Openworked - 15468BC
We conclude the Travis collection with another Royal Oak Openworked, this time with a frosted gold bracelet and case and "rainbow" bezel.
Presented at SIHH in 2019, this reference is a masterpiece of craftsmanship both in making such skeletonization and in the finishing of the bracelet and bezel.
The list price is $104,600 while now on the market it sells for $245,087 (€228,997), +134%.
Travis thus confirms himself as a true admirer of luxury watches, able to create a very diverse collection, with more lavish timepieces and at the same time also more elegant pieces.
Each piece in his personal collection reflects his bold personality, his sophisticated taste, and his dedication to art and innovation. Whether timeless classics or exclusive editions, his watches are not just accessories, but true symbols of his creative identity.
